The National Chair also extends her personal appreciation to Napo members for the invitation to join the combined Napo and NIPSA update meeting on pay modernisation yesterday.  Whilst the issue of a pay claim for 2023-2024 will be the subject of separate discussions, there was good news about the funding for the business case on a reform package similar to the model that Napo secured in 2018 in Probation England and Wales to shorten pay band ranges and the time it takes staff to reach their maximum pay point.

More news will follow once a final decision has been made on the business case by the NI Department of Justice. It was very clear that the extremely positive working arrangements between trade unions and the Probation Board for Northern Ireland has been pivotal in the progress made so far on a project which seeks to improve the strategy for the recruitment and retention of Probation staff.
