NPS Pay Ballot result masks members anger

Napo members have voted to accept the NPS 2020/21 Pay offer by a margin of 65% to 35%. In a joint letter to the NPS notifying them that all unions had voted to accept the offer, we have made it absolutely clear that the employer should take no comfort with the result.

As was made clear in our information to members which accompanied the ballot, this was an inadequate pay offer which has caused a good deal of anger amongst members, especially in respect of the divisive special payments scheme which was structured around strict Treasury rules.

Many members have contacted us to voice their understandable anger at not being included in this scheme and our advice remains that members who did not qualify should take this issue up directly through Napo Branches with NPS Regional Directors and HR Business partners to encourage the use of locally held bonus monies.

In terms of the future, the probation unions will be making every effort to progress the pay modernisation agenda early into the new year to seek drastic changes to a structure that is simply no longer fit for purpose. Our members demand a pay system that is fair and responsive to their needs and Napo will be making every effort to achieve it.

CRC Pay latest

Proposals are now emerging from the MTC and SEETEC CRC’s and talks are scheduled to take place as soon as possible in the new year.

Pay negotiations ongoing in PBNI

Despite regular engagement between the unions and Board representatives this year, the pay governance process under the jurisdiction of the Department of Justice is very slow. National and local Napo representatives hope that a clearer indication of a pay remit will emerge in January.
