What's new with Probation Training?

Future qualification training arrangements are hurriedly being worked up to reflect the new world.  Based in the NPS they will initially be aimed at graduate entrants with the next cohort due to start in the autumn.

Below you can download the latest paper (undated and unattributable but released late May) to come our way from NOMS. It will be considered at Napo's Training Committee on June 10th. It isn't a new arrangement, more a continuation of existing arrangements for graduate entrants. The question it begs is: what plans are there for career progression notably within CRCs for those who don't hold relevant degrees? The answer seems to be - "none' or thereabouts at the moment. This career path is referenced in the paper below but the firm line taken so far by the Secretary of State is that he doesn't want to fetter the CRCs in terms of what sort of training arrangements they should make. For this, one suspects,  read - less training, less qualifications and lower pay rates. but perhaps that's just a cynical view. These concerns are, and will continue to be, raised by Napo on behalf of its members and potential future members. For more information contact Mike McClelland, National Official.
