This is a reminder regarding the content of our previous communication (JTU 62-2024 Pay Update). We want to emphasise that we are continuing to address Business As Usual (BAU) pay issues separately from the ongoing pay negotiations for 2025.

The Trades Unions maintain and have re-stated to HMPPS that the following BAU pay objectives are separate from our pay claim:

Business as Usual Pay Issues:

  • Ensuring annual pay increments are paid on time i.e 1 April
  • Fair treatment for staff at the bottom of Pay Band 2
  • Geographical supplements for high-cost living areas
  • Ending unfair and inferior sessional payments
  • Fair unsocial hours payments
  • Job evaluation reviews for ex-CRC jobs
  • Extension and making permanent of overtime payments to higher pay bands
  • Retaining accrued progression for temporary promotions

Please be rest assured that all BAU pay concerns are being handled with the utmost priority alongside but separate to the current pay negotiations.

As a reminder below are the headline details of the joint Trades Union Pay Claim for 2025. Full and further information on the claim will be sent to members very shortly.

Pay Claim for 2025:

  • One year claim
  • 12% increase on all pay points
  • 12% increase on all cash allowances (e.g., London Weighting, Geographical Supplements)
  • Minimum salary increase to no less than £15/hour
  • Conversion of Regional Reward and Recognition funds into a single fund for staff retention purposes
