Nomination Process
The forms for completion by candidates for the election can be found here. The closing date for nominations is 24th November at 12 noon. If an election is necessary there will be a postal ballot of all full members in that respective Napo Branch and the results of the election will be available by mid-October. If no election is required the newly elected NEC rep will be able to attend the next NEC meeting on the 28th November 2023, however, please note that only one representative per branch can attend, speak and vote at any meeting of the NEC. Observers may attend, with prior permission of the Chair.
Candidates for election must be full members of the Association as per Clause 4a(i) and belong to the branch for which they seek nomination. To have a valid nomination a candidate must secure the support of two full members in their branch: a proposer, and seconder. The candidate must complete and forward the attached form NEC 31a so that the form is in the hands of The Officers’ Group (see procedural checklist and forms for details to email) no later than 12 noon on 24th November 2023. Candidates must also forward their written consent by the same date using the attached form NEC 31b.
If a ballot is required we will circulate a statement to all full members in the branch from each candidate (see NEC 31b). Statements from candidates contain two sections:
- Section (a) should cover career details, Napo/staff associations/other union roles and posts held. This section should provide only factual information.
- Section (b) should include the aims and views that candidates wish to communicate, addressing Napo's objects as far as possible.
Please ensure that Section (b) is no more than 250 words in length. If this section exceeds 250 words it will be edited without consultation.
Candidates are required to sign a statement verifying the information they have provided (see NEC31b) and should also complete and return Napo’s Monitoring Form, which is attached to NEC31b.
Napo will be appointing Civica Election Services (formerly Electoral Reform Services) to act as Independent Scrutineer if an election is necessary.
