Napo’s National Official, Annoesjka Valent, will be speaking at the National Shop Stewards Network Conference 22 June 2024.

The conference will be 11am to 4.30pm at Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, Holborn, London WC1R 4RL

Napo is affiliated to the National Shop Stewards Network (NSSN).

This Network was initiated by the RMT union in 2006 and has national support, besides ourselves, from Unite, CWU, NUJ, NUM, POA, BFAWU and the FBU, as well as individual branches in these and other unions and many trades councils. This will be their seventeenth national conference.

This year’s conference takes place during a General Election and therefore will be concerned with how the union movement fights for the policies that workers desperately need.

Napo’s National Official, Annoesjka Valent, will be speaking alongside national officials from other unions as well as rank and file trade union reps involved in current struggles.

The NSSN have set out a list of demands: -

  • To repeal Sunak’s ‘Strike Minimum Service Levels’ Act (MSL) along with Cameron’s Trade Union Act 2016, and all the rest of the Tory anti-union laws, going back to Thatcher and Major.
  • To re-nationalise Royal Mail, BT, buses, the energy and utility companies, steel. Immediate re-nationalisation of the railways, rather than waiting for franchises to expire.
  • To end privatisation in the NHS and our public services.
  • For a real inflation-proof pay rise for workers, that protects our living standards.
  • For a £15/hour minimum wage with no age exemptions
  • Repeal of Fire & Rehire and Zero-hour contracts
  • Workers’ rights from day one of employment

Annoesjka will be speaking about our ‘Manifesto Asks’ https://www.napo.org.uk/news/napos-manifesto-asks and our current dispute and indicative ballot in Probation over Pay and Workloads as well as what is happening in Family Courts and for our members in Northern Ireland.

Attendance fee is £8. You can register here or pay on the day at conference or email info@shopstewards.net
