Members will have seen the extensive media coverage involving Napo yesterday. This followed a letter which was sent by Napo General Secretary Ian Lawrence to the Secretary of State for Justice, Chris Grayling on Monday evening.
Owing to confidentiality restrictions imposed by the High Court the letter has had to be redacted and this version of the letter was released to media outlets on Monday night as well as Members of the Justice Select Committee (JSC) which met yesterday.
As a result of this letter, serious questions were asked of NOMS's Officials and the Minister by members of the JSC, and Napo itself attracted substantial contact about the issues around the safety of our members and the public, from regional and national press, television, and radio.
Important discussions are taking place at the moment with Napo's legal advisers and more news will be issued to members once we have had an opportunity to consider the additional evidence that is due to reach us tomorrow.
Members continuing support and patience is greatly appreciated
Ian Lawrence General Secretary and the Napo Officer Group
