This communication is by way of an immediate update for members and will be followed up by more detailed communications.

The unions had a very productive call with the employers today.

We fully understand the rationale for moving staff onto the Commissioning Partnerships Manager JD in the short term to protect staff salaries at band 6 and we welcome this consideration.

We discussed the unforeseen consequences that have since arisen and have sought a solution to them They are:

  • Some Health and Justice Managers will require Health to be included in their Job definition to maintain professional registration elsewhere.
  • That people on the existing Commissioning Partnerships Manager JD may feel vulnerable to having others moved on to their JD.

The proposal that an additional temporary Job Descriptor document is drawn up which will differentiate the two groups of staff working to the same Job Description and that this Job Descriptor is sufficient to satisfy the needs of those members of staff who need it to evidence their external professional registration. The employers will work with those staff to ensure that it does.

We are still working positively with the employer about the cutoff date for accepting the move to the Commissioning Partnerships Manager JD to preserve payment at Band 6. Some staff may elect to move to the Band 5 JD with pay protection. We would remind them that should they do so they will have their current pay protected but would not be eligible of the October uplift.

We hope that members are assured that we are jointly working positively with the employer’s initiative to preserve their terms and conditions pending the Spending review and further decision about the role which will be made in the new year.
